There is an out of town company who filed with the Rail Road Commission (RRC) for a permit to run a Solid Waste Treatment Facility that will be located between Carrizo and Crystal City almost right across from the old Drive-in. This type of facility will be a dumping ground for Oil Based muds, water based muds and any other solids (sludge) that cannot be injected back into the ground. These solids will create an extremely foul odor and will be toxic to ground water and the air. Since most of the oilfield activity is south of town and the facility will be north of town all the waste will be passing right through town. The public notice was published in last weeks Javalin it should be posted again this week, if you care about your town get involved and write a letter to the RRC at the address mentioned in the ad and let them know you are against this dump. They need to take this hazard somewhere else not in our town. Why don't they take it to their home town!
